The Smithtown Fire Department was toned out for a 16-23 (Ambulance Requested/Motor Vehicle Accident) on May 24 at 16:38 hrs (4:38 pm) with the location of 915 West Jericho Turnpike across from Bobby’s Auto Repair.
Arriving units sized up a two vehicle accident blocking traffic in the eastbound lanes. Occupants of the vehicles were able to self-extricate. Two victims were transported to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center and Stony Brook University Hospital. Firefighters on scene secured the vehicles, applied speedy dry to the road and cleaned up debris before opening the two eastbound lanes to traffic.
On scene was Chief Fitzpatrick (4-2-32), Rescue 4-2-9, Engines 4-2-4, 4-2-5, Ambulances 4-2-62 and 4-2-65 and Fire Police (4-2-10).
